- I was told by a NetManage Tech supporter that the file v403.exe is supposed to fix
- some GP faults that pop up in Telnet. But hey, I quit using version 4.0's telnet
- anyway because I couldn't get the keymapping to work properly. There are also
- other bugs that they are working on and new patches will be forthcoming. For
- instance, NFS won't allow you to change back to the root directory in a dialog box
- on a remote host. They know about that and are working on it.
-
- I really hate to say it, but it seems like a typical case of releasing software
- before its time. I plan on talking to the government sales rep today (3/23) to
- let them know that there are problems that need to be resolved. I plan on
- directing their attention to this newsgroup!

- Subject: HELP! SLIP just stopped working!
-
- HELP! Using Trumpet Winsock and an RS/6000 over a direct-SLIP connection.
- Every now-and-then the RS/6000 gets booted and the SLIP stops working!
-
- Ping (from the PC) reports "ICMP Transmit Error" --- eh? There is no help.
- What is this?
-
- Ping (from the RS/6000) reports nothing (no packets get back) but on the Trumpet
- Winsock disgnostic screen (TCP & IP) I get this:
-
- "IP 120.30.1.2 -> 120.30.1.1 len 84 prot 1"
-
- Over and over (with each "ping" from the RS/6000). So they're talking, the PC
- just isn't saying anything back. I think that's what's wrong.
-
- Here's some dumps from AIX land:
-
- netstat -r
-
- cap capslip UH 1 95 sl18
-
- netstat -i
-
- Name MTU Network Address Ipkts Ierr Opkts Oerr Coll
- sl18 1006 <Link>
- sl18 1006 120.30.1 capslip 0 0 73 0 0
-
- cap is my PC's "name" and 120.30.1.2 is it's address
- capslip is the Network's "name" and 120.30.1.1 is it's address
-
- sl18 is the slip interfact, tty18 is the tty port.
-
- This is really holding things up here. (As I have no other line into my
- develoipment system). Please respond if you know anything about this.
-
-
- Phone (617) 320-4701 if youknow something.
- Or respond in E-Mail!
